The Iraqi government on Wednesday called on its German counterpart to release Iraqi funds frozen in some German banks, stressing the need to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.
"Iraq is contemplating opening the horizons of economic and commercial dealings between the two countries, as well as releasing frozen Iraqi funds in some German banks because of the need to return them to Iraq," Jaafari told a joint news conference with his German counterpart Ziegmar Gabriel in Baghdad.
"We assured the German Foreign Minister that Germany should play the important role in the reconstruction and reconstruction efforts in the liberated areas, whether in Saladin, Anbar or Mosul," he said.
