America calls for NATO to engage in war in Iraq and Syria

BAGHDAD ( Reuters) - US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Friday called on NATO nations to boost their defense budgets and do more to fight militants in Syria and Iraq .

"We want to discuss how to build on the important participation of the alliance in fighting and defeating a nascent organization and other anti-terrorist measures that NATO can do, with the aim of stabilizing the Middle East, " Tillerson said in remarks to reporters quoted by ABC .

The network said that Tillerson assured his NATO counterparts during his first meeting with them at a meeting of foreign ministers of NATO countries today, the importance of ensuring that the US military alliance on the resources needed, whether financial or other, which is necessary for NATO to carry out its mission .
