    suprkat says(6:36 PM):
    Dearest Heavenly Father:
We come together tonight Lord to praise Your name. Thank you for all of the blessings we share and to learn. Lord, we ask that You bless all who need you tonight – the homeless, the sick, the weary and the lost and grant them Your peace and comfort. Hear our prayers Lord, both spoken and unspoken and let us know that we are never alone. Be with all who serve tonight Lord, wherever they are – military, first responders, fire fighters and law enforcement and keep them safe and out of harm’s way. Be also with the families of the fallen Lord and walk with them as they grieve. We ask that You bless us in all that we do, that we may bring Your message of light, love and hope to the world. In Jesus’ precious name we pray, AMEN!

    SRW.. AKA SRW.. s40

    suprkat says(6:39 PM):
From the days of The Crusades which began in 1091 to 1861 and the American Civil War; to 1914 and 1939 and the First and Second World Wars; to the current situation in Iraq – innocent people have died in wars for their beliefs. It is, unfortunately, a sad fact of life.

During The Crusades, an estimated 1.7 million people were slaughtered by early Islamic rule. Early Christians were killed just for their faith and belief in a better way of life.

During the Civil War, 620,000 soldiers perished – also for their beliefs on both sides of the issue at hand. There is no clear record of the numbers of innocent lives taken during that conflict. One in particular was written into the history books in Gettysburg. Mary Virginia “Jenny” Wade was gunned down in her kitchen while baking biscuits for members of the Union Army.

Nearly 100 million people were killed during the two World Wars, including up to 20 million who were slaughtered at the hands of Hitler and his minions in death camps all over Germany and Poland between 1941 and 1943 – simply for their beliefs.
Within the first two to four months after the bombs were dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, an estimated 246,000 people were lost. The final total of people directly and indirectly affected by those bombs is still being debated.

These numbers are indeed staggering and heart-wrenching. When reading the reports of the innocent lives being lost almost daily in Iraq, it makes one wonder if the whole world has gone insane. These numbers, however, pale in comparison to history.

This is not to say that any loss of life is acceptable. It is not and never will be. We as caring human beings should never lose sight of the sacrifice given in any war or conflict for our freedoms. Death at another’s hands is not acceptable – it just IS.

But should this alter us from our goals and dampen our hopes that there can be a better future for the world? NO!! Because of the sacrifice of countless millions of innocent people, we can indeed have hope in our future.

Christians are worshipping and celebrating the life of Christ in churches all over the world. Because of the Civil War, slavery in America no longer exists.

Nagasaki and Hiroshima are now thriving cities in Japan. Survivors of the Holocaust have gone on to be shining examples to the world of hope, courage and determination to overcome horrors we can’t even begin to imagine.

And parts of Iraq are now beginning to rebuild and dream of life beyond oppression. Although more could and should be done for the displaced and homeless, we are beginning to see help and aid come to them slowly from around the world.

New businesses, sports stadiums, airports, oil fields, apartment buildings and housing are opening and/or being built. Agriculture is beginning to bring in much needed food and income to the country.

Little by little, we are seeing roads being repaired and replaced. Electricity is being repaired and upgraded. They have launched satellites that will connect them to the rest of the world.

Banks are being updated and brought up to international standards and ready to meet the needs of an international community. The corruption that was once rampant is now being checked at the door.

Iraq is not and WILL not be defeated, although it may be a very different Iraq that immerges from the rubble. There will still be squabbles. Some of their rich and beautiful history may be lost forever. Some of their people have been lost or wounded. But hope springs eternal and their hope and pride is returning. Long may they thrive!

    MadDScout says(6:43 PM):
Amen and thank you much Kathy

If one has been here long enough, then the news we see now is night and day, as far as progress, and they are getting more and more a better handle on security, car bombs happen, but with less frequency or severity.

    MadDScout says(6:43 PM):
I have seen many reports on them catching some of these car bomb factories in operation and have interdiction of many would be bombings.

    1bobby says(6:44 PM):
    Very well written Kathy

    suprkat says(6:44 PM):
    Are there any questions?

Abadi calls during his meeting with the Secretary of the United Nations to remove Iraq from Chapter VII

    Editorial date: 2017/3/30 17:37 • 49 times read

(Baghdad: Al Furat News) Prime Minister Haider Abadi called for the removal of Iraq from Chapter VII in order to end the file of the occupation of Kuwait and the decisions imposed on the Iraqi people because of the policies of the Saddam regime.

"The prime minister met today with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterich and stressed that the United Nations is doing basic humanitarian and relief work for the displaced and restoring stability and community reconciliation," the statement said.

"The people of Iraq have demonstrated their ability to defeat terrorism and expel the oppressor. We are in the final stage of liberating Mosul and our forces are exerting their utmost efforts to protect the civilians," Abadi said.

He called on the United Nations and the UN Security Council to "make a decision to prosecute the crimes against civilians, praising the invitation of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in this area, and called on the international community to support Iraq to restore stability to liberated cities, also called for the removal of Iraq from Chapter VII to end the file The occupation of Kuwait and the decisions imposed on the Iraqi people because of the policies of the Saddam regime. "

"We express our full solidarity and commitment to work with you in your great mission to liberate your country and achieve stability and reconciliation. Our visit to Iraq is a solidarity visit at a historic moment that we hope will liberate Mosul and return to normalcy soon," UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterich said.

He expressed his satisfaction and appreciation for the efforts to protect civilians and the international community's appreciation for the sacrifices of Iraqis, stressing the need for the international community to support relief efforts, humanitarian and Iraqi institutions, pointing to the need to hold accountable elements to advocate the heinous crimes committed against civilians.

    1bobby says(6:48 PM):
Well this one has raised a lot of discussion on FB! We knew that Iraq was NOT out of Chapter 7, but not in a stranglehold as they had been. They now have the right to defend themselves and control their currency. The issues that are outstanding are the reparations to Kuwait and to the best of my knowledge the Oil for Food/Medicine Program. Now if we look back to late last year Iraq made an announcement that the OFP had ended.

    SRW says to 1bobby(6:49 PM):

    1bobby says(6:49 PM):
Well this one has raised a lot of discussion on FB! We knew that Iraq was NOT out of Chapter 7, but not in a stranglehold as they had been. They now have the right to defend themselves and control their currency. The issues that are outstanding are the reparations to Kuwait and to the best of my knowledge the Oil for Food/Medicine Program. Now if we look back to late last year Iraq made an announcement that the OFP had ended. Yet shortly there after The U.N issued a resolution.....United Nations S/RES/2335 (2016) Security Council Distr.: General 30 December 2016 16-23176 (E) *1623176* Resolution 2335 (2016) Adopted by the Security Council at its 7854th meeting, on 30 December 2016 The Security Council, Recalling its resolution 1958 (2010), Acting under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations,

    1. Reaffirms its call in paragraph 2 of resolution 1958 (2010) for the Government of Iraq to provide without delay payments referred to therein; 2. Authorizes the Secretary-General to continue to maintain the escrow accounts authorized in paragraphs 3, 4 and 5 of resolution 1958 (2010) and to retain the funds in those accounts until 30 June 2017, at which time all remaining funds are to be transferred to the Government of Iraq; 3. Requests the Secretary-General to continue to pursue implementation of paragraph 7 and other relevant aspects of resolution 1958 (2010); 4. Requests the Secretary-General to report on implementation of this resolution no later than 30 March 2017 and with a final report three months after the transfer of any remaining funds pursuant to paragraph 2 to the Government of Iraq, unless otherwise authorized by the Security Council; 5. Decides to remain actively seized of the matter.

If we recall the U.N Rep stated that Iraq has made great progress as far as the OFP and the June date was set as a "let's see what happens between now and then" kind of a date. For Abadi to publicly come out and ask the U.N Secretary General to no longer associate Iraq with Ch 7, is a big move on his part and I doubt he's expecting a no answer. They can still have working files, but to have the U.N come out and publicly rid Iraq of the CH 7 shadow would be a huge move forward. As we have seen Kuwait has been a big supporter of Iraq as of late and has continuously been working with Iraq on outstanding issues.

    suprkat says to SRW(6:49 PM):
    please wait

    1bobby says(6:50 PM):
    well I'm a techo idiot

    MadDScout says(6:52 PM):
Abadi: "there are continuing work to close the Chapter VII file in cooperation with the
United Nations," pointing at the same time that "the Iraqi government supports the
efforts UN to prosecute and punish terrorists."

IMO) Abadi can only be asking because, along with other criteria, they are ready, or he
would not have asked in front of the world just to have egg on his face cause he forgot
    this or that.

I think it says volumes about where they are. But remember, We have only heard Abadi ask.Guterres stressed that "Iraq is in the final stages .. against terrorism, and after the liberation of Mosul will have the opportunity to devote safe civilian life",
"We are working high in coordination with the government to achieve full reconciliation to the Iraqis," asserting that "all of Iraq's population and its communities were victims of the terrorist Daesh must bring terrorists to trial."

    suprkat says to SRW(6:53 PM):
    Go

    SRW says to 1bobby(6:54 PM):
It's to my understanding repartations were paid and the remains that could be found of family members were taken back as practical as possible..

    1bobby says(6:54 PM):
Reparations have not been fully paid and are scheduled to be paid in full in 2018

    1bobby says(6:55 PM):
Now as far as the remains and properties, that's a file that will be ongoing but not an issue within CH 7

    suprkat says(6:56 PM):
    Did that help?

    SRW says to 1bobby(6:56 PM):
How does that affect the revalue of the dinar if any?

    SRW says to 1bobby(6:57 PM):
    Don't worry, I can't spell either.. :boh

    1bobby says(6:57 PM):
Well if we look at CH 7, the 2 big ones that were given back to Iraq were the right to defend themselves and control of their currency.

    1bobby says(6:58 PM):
Having the U.N announce the removal of CH 7 to the world is what Abadi's looking for

    1bobby says(6:58 PM):
and I still can't type Sorry

    larrykn says(6:59 PM):

    SRW says to 1bobby(6:59 PM):
Well, could that be for the Maliki era also..

    larrykn says(6:59 PM):
I don't think Adaibi would have ask if he didn't already know what the UN would say, like Pat sayed don't want egg on the face

    MadDScout says to larrykn(7:00 PM):
    (y)

    suprkat says to BGG(7:00 PM):
    Go

    1bobby says to SRW(7:00 PM):
No doubt. Most of the OFP was under Maliki

    1bobby says to larrykn(7:00 PM):
    I agree

    suprkat says to Pablo(7:00 PM):
    Wait one

    MadDScout says to BGG(7:01 PM):
    You had a comment

    BGG says(7:01 PM):
You've run up on a critical issue right there - an this... may well be the wrench in the game the UN isn't about to give up. When we talk about the price tag the IMF and the UN have put on Mosul... one has to wonder exactly what leverage the UN has in this game...

    MadDScout says to BGG(7:01 PM):
    Great thought

    BGG says(7:01 PM):
It is clear what say the IMF has - they are the IMF... but the UN, on the other hand, not so clear...

    BGG says(7:02 PM):
unless viewed through this narrow window. I doubt the UN will allow Iraq an immediate exit from Chapter 7 - the sanctions, yes... the protection... I just doubt it.

    MadDScout says to BGG(7:03 PM):
    I have to agree

    suprkat says to Pablo(7:03 PM):
    Go

    Pablo says(7:03 PM):
    Just answered my question.

    BGG says(7:03 PM):
What does this mean for us? As long as they are doing as the IMF and UN have laid out for them - no reason the IMF and the UN won't support a return "international acceptance and integration"...

    BGG says(7:04 PM):
and that is all any of us care about.

    SRW says to 1bobby(7:04 PM):
    Comment..

    suprkat says to SRW(7:04 PM):
    Wait please

    BGG says(7:05 PM):
Keep in mind Chapter 7 isn't some kind of "bankrupcy protection". It's about the UN being able to move in the region in a "peace-keeping" fashion without having to go back and have a full UN vote to reassert itself.

    larrykn says to BGG(7:05 PM):
    ?

    suprkat says to larrykn(7:06 PM):
    Please wait

    BGG says(7:06 PM):
Could well be why they have talked "security and stability" for so long - kinda' saying "PLEASE" to the UN in a vague sort of way all along.

    BGG says(7:06 PM):
    I'm done.

    BGG says(7:06 PM):
    Thanks

    suprkat says to SRW(7:06 PM):
    Go

    SRW says to 1bobby(7:06 PM):
Hang Maliki and the greatest populus would be estactic.. Along with his goon Thugs..

    MadDScout says to BGG(7:06 PM):
    Thank you boss

    BGG says to MadDScout(7:06 PM):
    YVW - Thank you sir!

    1bobby says to SRW(7:07 PM):
you and a ton of others

    MadDScout says to BGG(7:07 PM):
I am glad for the input

    suprkat says to larrykn(7:07 PM):
    Go

    larrykn says to BGG(7:07 PM):
what has to happen for them to get out of chapter 7

    BGG says to larrykn(7:08 PM):
A better question - and the one we all really want to know is... do they even have to be fully out of Chapter 7??

    larrykn says to BGG(7:08 PM):
    (y)

    MadDScout says to BGG(7:08 PM):
    My ? also

    1bobby says to BGG(7:08 PM):
    I'd personally say....NOPE

    1bobby says to BGG(7:09 PM):
they've done enough to have control of their currency

    suprkat says(7:09 PM):
If no more questions, let's move on

    SRW says to 1bobby(7:09 PM):
According to the UN.. That is a NO..

    1bobby says(7:09 PM):
    This is fun

    BGG says to larrykn(7:09 PM):
My guess. No - they do not... but the thing still nagging Abadi's consciousness... they have to answer to the UN. Which is clearly apparent in their interactions with the IMF and UN over the last 6 months and 1 year or so... they are playing ball.

    SRW says to 1bobby(7:11 PM):
    Comment

    suprkat says(7:11 PM):
The IMF is discussing boosting tax revenues in Iraq

    29-03-2017 10:35 AM

Private sector representatives discussed with a delegation from the International Monetary Fund last approval loan for Iraq, for the payment of outstanding dues for contractors, suppliers and farmers, the Government and ways to solve this problem due to their importance in stabilizing the economy.

He asked the head of the IMF mission to Iraq Christian JAWS in a meeting in Baghdad, about the possibilities that increase State revenues, including activation of direct and indirect taxes, such as those imposed on non-oil products.

He noted that the tariffs "were between 5 and 10 percent, which is not the proper way where customs revenues. He stressed that «change this method for up to 30 percent. He said that «the fastest gains and revenue comes from tax almkelvih unit planning, these big earnings where a traders».

Called JAWS to the hiring freeze until the management development, because a higher proportion of staff in the civil service was a way to please the other and recruited without regard to efficiency, this system will lead to a deficit over the next 10 years.

He stressed the importance of "poor ration support limited», with description of «business environment in Iraq as" more complicated than other States, is slow because of the lack of security and inadequate electricity and not to collect their dues.

And don't overlook the jaws «weak banking sector and the importance of strengthening business through restructuring banker «good» and «blood», and open wide space in front of the private banks with the need for calendar weaknesses and lay the foundations to combat money laundering, as a form of integrity and specialized organizations such as the International Finance Corporation.
Conferees discussed in points that contribute to the upgrading of the economy explained economic expert Ibrahim Al-Baghdadi in the intervention during the meeting that Iraq «began levying tariffs in some Customs resources doubled to more than 30 times, with electricity collection rose 20 times, as the Ministry of electricity power companies fees collection under investment contracts, started to show positive results.

And Student Union President contractors óäçýí, b «launch arrears of transactions examined by the Office of financial supervision.

He pointed out that Union contractors «34 features a contractor, and a large part of their suffering occurs in tax accounting phase, because the tax deduction amounts are reserved to the provinces, tax services seeks to achieve tax accounting».
The researcher stressed the importance of economic alshammari, structures «accelerated implementation of reforms to clear impact on the economy and its support infrastructure enhancement opportunities». She considered that banking reform gateway for entering diverse investments to Iraq.

    1bobby says(7:13 PM):

The taxes and tariff's are still a work in progress and the IMF is side by side with Iraq in implementing some tweaks as they go. The problem(s) arose with the "how do we pay contractors, suppliers and farmers?" Well you can't do it on oil profits alone now can ya? That's what got em into this mess. The taxes and Tariff's weren't working to the expectations of the IMF, so they suggested to raise both. Recall the tax structure was part of the Structural Benchmarks NOT met during the SBA Review
What they are implementing is opening the private sector, put your citizens to work, take the taxes from them and products, and BAM you have more non oil revenue.

    1bobby says(7:15 PM):

I say put your citizens to work because the U.N and World Bank have recently made statements about post Mosul. In those statements they stated the importance that after the liberation process, it will be imperative to return the citizens to their homes with services and "empower" them by making them part of the reconstruction process. Now the IMF also mentioned bringing in the International Finance Coporation to assist in this lack of revenue endeavor.

Here's what the IFC will do....IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, is the largest global development institution focused exclusively on the private sector in developing countries. Their field of expertise includes...Agribusiness and Forestry
    , Financial Institutions
    , Funds
    , Health and Education
    , Infrastructure
    , Manufacturing
    , Oil, Gas, and Mining
    , Public-Private Partnerships
, Telecommunications, Media and Technology, Tourism, Retail and Property.

    1bobby says(7:15 PM):

So everything is coming together. The hardest part is waiting

    MadDScout says(7:15 PM):
    Any??'s

On the other hand, the head of the Dhi Qar Governorate Hamid al-Ghazi, in an interview with (to the extent), the desire of the province to raise the size of its financial resources through the operation of Nasiriyah airport, as agreed with the Ministry of Transport, that the resources of the airport equally between the ministry and local government In Dhi Qar and management of the joint airport, pointing at the same time, to the great economic importance of the province of Dhi Qar, because it includes many tourist facilities, which if invested correctly, will have huge financial returns to the country, and improve the service and economic status of the people of the province.

    SRW says to 1bobby(7:21 PM):
Abadi wants Maliki in this to show his corruption and treasonous ways while PM of Iraq.. Abadi wants UN sanctions until the Maliki era is proven.. Not to sanction the country, but show the previous PM Maliki's terrible deeds.. Something happened at the Geneva Convention.. Abadi wants Maliki hung from a tree.. Until then, Iraq will not move forward..

(( Dhi Qar province is looking to raise it's financial resources, and a big part of that will be the operation of the airport. With the proceeds to be split between ministry and local government. They point out the proximity of tourist facilities, "which if invested correctly, will have huge financial returns to the country, and improve the service and economic status of the people of the province." ))

    MadDScout says(7:22 PM):
The investment of the airport comes as a continuation of the step of annexing the marshes and monuments in the province to the World Heritage List. Al-Ghazi continued: "All this is in addition to the investment of this airport, which will also contribute to the oil companies operating in the governorate, , Especially that Nasiriyah does not have a border outlet, which is this airport, will open to the world, and we hope to transfer airport flights from the interior to the international in the near future.
And on the importance of investing in Nasiriyah airport, the economist, Wissam Taher, in an interview with (to the extent), that the province of Dhi Qar, located between five provinces and the central and southern (Basra Maysan Wasit Muthanna Qadisiyah), and the total population of Dhi Qar with The neighboring provinces of 9.1 million people, and there is no airport in all of these provinces, only one in the province of Basra, while most of the inhabitants of these provinces, they can reach Basra only through Dhi Qar, and here is the importance of the existence of its airport and investment.

    MadDScout says(7:22 PM):
(( This project helps alleviate some of the lack of these kinds of facility in the region ))

    1bobby says to SRW(7:24 PM):
I can see your point but if that's the case why is Abadi asking out of Ch 7?

    1bobby says to SRW(7:24 PM):
Maliki's time will come. It could be after we're all gone

Iraq’s Current Economic Outlook And How it Can Affect Dinar Value
March 29, 2017 —by Mike Fox 0 Comments

After years of economic neglect, poverty for the common man and turmoil in the region, Iraq has finally reached a state of constant economic growth under the democratic leadership in the aftermath of the US invasion in 2003 and the overthrowing of Saddam Hussein’s tyrannical regime.
The following post is courtesy of fractalerts, a division of fractal SA, Switzerland, a trading alert service based on unique algorithms that intuitively predict patterns in the market. Each market forecast is systematic, unemotional and data-driven – resulting in specific entry and exit points and historically astounding gains across 34 different markets.

    Iraq’s Economy is Rising
The main driving force behind Iraq’s economic growth is the wealth of natural resources reflected in a large number of oil and gas fields which are now open to international trade. Companies from around the world are investing into the development of these resources, which is reflected in the country’s ever-increasing oil exports. It seems that Iraq has completely recovered from the damage and downfall it suffered under the rule of Saddam Hussein.
An even greater exploration of Iraq’s oil reserves by international companies will lead to an even bigger tally of the country’s oil wealth, along with its already-known, vast reserves. In addition to all that wealth, Iraq seems to be blessed with geological formations that are perfectly accessible for drilling as opposed to most countries, which significantly brings down the costs of oil extraction.

The most obvious example of Iraq’s production advantages can be seen in the most recent Saudi Arabian oil production war which was designed to bankrupt the US shale-oil producers. And while oil producers in the US have been severely impacted by the overproduction “attack” from Saudi Arabia, Iraq still continues to produce and sell oil profitably.

What does this mean for the Iraqi Dinar?
The value of a nation’s economy, as well as its currency, is directly reflected in its natural resources, and Iraq’s oil reserves are big enough to drive its young democratic economy to prosperity. Given the fact that there is an insatiable need for gas and oil across the world, Iraq is can look forward to constant growth in its ever-growing role of the oil supplier to the world. Although Iraq is not there yet, it is becoming increasingly obvious that the country will take on the role of a regional and international energy super-power given its natural reserves in the near future. In fact, just recently the country’s Minister of Oil stated that Iraq will be able to produce 5 million barrels of oil a day in the second half of 2017.
With the economic boom led by Iraq’s oil industry, the national currency in the form of the Dinar will eventually rise to reflect the true value of the country’s oil wealth. The rise will most likely happen when the National Bank of Iraq lifts the artificially low value placed on the nation’s currency in 2003.

Historically, the new Iraqi Dinar reached an all-time low against USD of 1680 in January of 2004 and a record high of 1106 in December of 2015. Currently trading at 1180. USD/IQD chart from Yahoo Finance.
Additionally, current political events play a key role in predicting the future of any given currency, and the controversial “Muslim ban” instituted by Donald Trump could have had major consequences for the Iraqi economy, had it not been lifted on March 6th this year. This new order to exempt Iraq from the list of banned countries has proven to be very beneficial for the country’s currency with foreign currency investors being able to exchange Iraqi dinar at favorable rates, keeping the country a valuable asset in the foreign exchange market.

All in all, it seems that the Iraqi dinar is looking at a bright future.
In the end, it is important to note that Iraq presents a wealth of investment opportunities in many industries, with the economic rise being driven by oil and gas reserves. These opportunities will become even more apparent in the following years, as the newly-established government continues to offer new possibilities to international investors.
