BAGHDAD: The White House said on Saturday that US President Donald Trump and Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi discussed the threat posed by Iran in the entire region, while noting that they reaffirmed commitment to a long-term partnership between the two countries.

The White House said in a statement posted on its website, said that "the US president Donald Trump spoke with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to underline US support for the Iraqi people in our common fight against the terrorist group Daesh," noting that "Trump stressed to strengthen the US military."
