12 Former Iraqi Officials Stripped of Their State Privileges

LEEDS — Iraq’s Public Integrity Commission announced on Thursday that twelve former government officials, including ministers have had their state privileges stripped, as part of an anti-corruption campaign within the country.

The Commission released a report on Thursday, revealing twelve former government officials, who have been deprived from their state privileges due to failure to act in accordance with the procedure after leaving their public posts in the government.

According to the report, the twelve former officials have failed to return government-issued properties after leaving their public offices. After the decision of the commission the properties have been retrieved by the Iraqi authorities, Anadolu Agency reported on Thursday.

However, the Public Integrity Commission did not release the names of all former officials, who have faced the public retrieving and stripping of state privileges.

The campaign investigates former government figures and the possibility of failed return of government-issued properties, in accordance with the approved by the Prime Minister of Iraq, Haider al-Abadi, recommendation regarding the procedures of leaving public offices. https://www.basnews.com/index.php/en/news/iraq/327954
