Communications Minister Kazim Hassan Rashid and Minister of communications and information technology, Mahmud Vaezi, on lower international rates for mobile phones by 50%.

Vaezi said at a press conference with Iraqi Minister of communications Sunday, in Tehran, "mobile operators in Iraq, calls will be reduced by 50 percent starting Monday.

"The two sides agreed to launch a new line of communication, where there are currently 5 direct lines between the two countries and will rise to 6 lines.

Vaezi said that "Exchange contacts between Iran and Iraq was done across Europe, given the direct link last year, which led to a shorter distance," stating that "Iranian and Iraqi side enter a roadmap for communication, they would take decisions that lead to increased quality of services in the light of mutual visits by citizens and continued in various occasions."
