IMF praises economic reforms in Iraq

WASHINGTON - 12-10 (KUNA) - The IMF praised Wednesday progress made by Iraq in implementing economic reforms.

The IMF said in a statement that Iraq "has made good progress in its efforts to implement economic reforms." The statement emphasized that the Fund will be considered in the first review of stand-by arrangements with Iraq and of a duration of 36 months a total value of 34.5 billion US dollars which is likely to be in November or December next.
The Fund has agreed to such arrangements for the first time last July.

The statement said that the meeting held last week in Washington was "open and constructive" and included the acting Iraqi Central Bank Governor Dr. Ali Mohsen Ismail Keywords and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance Dr. Fadhil Nabi Othman financial adviser to Iraqi Prime Minister Saleh appearance and officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Iraq and a representative of The Government of Iraq's Kurdistan region.
