Baghdad/ Iraq TradeLink:

Iraqi Culture and Antiquities Minister Firyad Rawandouzi called Switzerland to stop selling Iraqi stolen antiquities in Zurich auctions.

During a meeting with the non-resident Swiss ambassador to Iraq Hans Peter, both sides discussed bilateral relations and the selling of the Iraqi antiquities, according to ministerial statement.

Thousands of Iraqi antiquities were stolen and smuggled during the US-led war against Iraq in 2003, though hundreds were regained, but the majority is still abroad, where they were sold in antiquities' auction all over Europe and the United States.
