Baghdad/ Iraq TradeLink:

Italian media sources quoted higher intelligence sources that Da'ish (ISIS) organization is planning to detonate Mosul's Dam and conduct attacks against the Italian forces present there,

The warning was specific on expected attempts against the 400 Italian soldiers stationed near the dam.

The reports said that the attack against the dam will be commanded by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi himself, in addition to tens of bombed vehicles and motorcycles.

Last February, the Iraqi government officially announced that the rehabilitation of the dam was entrusted to Italian Trevi Company, which prompted the Italian government to send 450 soldiers to Iraq to safeguard the company's personnel.

The Italian company conditioned that the protection of the dam should be under Iraqi military control, in addition to foreign troops, which matters were accepted by the Iraqi government.

Iraqi military analysts expected such Da'ish move following its latest defeats, pointing that the dam's attack will be political, rather than military.

"Da'ish organization is trying to make the dam's question as pressure card to obstruct the movement of the Iraqi forces", analyst Ahmed al-Sharifi stated.

The dam lies 50 km to the north of Mosul city over the Tigris River, with a length of 3.2 km and height of 131 meters.
