Dollar rises after upbeat comments on the US economy

The dollar rose in Asian trading Monday, after upbeat comments by Janet Yellen, president of the Federal Reserve, which indicated an improvement in the US economy, which means raising expectations for an increase in interest rates.
The dollar rose 0.4 percent to 102.24 yen, having recorded the highest rise to 102.28 yen, since the 12th of August.
As it settled the euro at $ 1.1202, while the dollar index, which tracks the US currency against a basket of six rivals, dropped slightly to 95.519, after rising earlier in the session, to 95.608, the highest level since August 16.
