Iraq is seeking to self-sufficiency in gas

Baghdad, October 15 / October (Rn) - ruled out Saturday the Iraqi Oil Ministry to export gas to European countries in the next phase unless access to self-sufficiency of natural gas to run power stations Kmayat determined according to the Ministry of Electricity.

He said ministry spokesman Assem Jihad told the Kurdish news agency (Rn) "will not be exported gas at the current stage, but after reaching self-sufficiency for the electricity projects."

He added that "The oil ministry is seeking to extend the pipeline to the gas fields and a field Mansourieh Sebe and crutch in Anbar province, after the completion of the development process."

Jihad said that "Iraq after reaching self-sufficiency will export gas to the European Union, which expressed his desire to do so."

Iraq has the OPEC member's fourth largest oil reserves in the world and burn about 700 million cubic feet of gas per day in the southern oil fields.
