Maliki calls on the Preparatory Committee for the National Meeting to speed up concluding its works

Baghdad (NINA) – Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki called on the Preparatory Committee for the proposed National Meeting to speed up concluding its works.

In a statement to the press on Friday, Mar. 23, Maliki said that the is an urgent need to review all issues related to building the Iraqi state after the withdrawal of American forces.”

Maliki renewed his call for holding the meeting in the first week of next month, the week following the Arab Summit.

The Preparatory Committee for the National Meeting held five sessions, the last on the 12 of current March, held at the residence of Vice President Khudayyer al-Khuza’e, during which agreement reached on the frame of the National Meeting’s agenda. A committee consisted of Adnan al-Janabi (Iraqiya slate), Khalid al-Atiya (National Alliance) and Rowsch Shaways (Kurdish Alliance) to draw the National Meeting’s agenda according to the frame agreed upon. / End.
