Baghdad, March 23 / March (Rn) - The Commission on economy and investment representative, on Friday, Iraq, that the application of the system will enter the customs tariff within the WTO, noting that the government is obliged to take action to protect the economy and lack of high prices.

He said the Commission's decision Mahma Khalil told the Kurdish news agency (Rn) that "Iraq is willing to apply the tariff system, especially after the introduction of amendments, and will be implemented in June next."
He added that "The government is bound by its obligations to protect the economy and the consumer and support the Iraqi agricultural sector and industry to promote the local product," noting that "work will reduce the tariff from the entry of goods of origin and the poor will contribute to the introduction of direct support Iraq as part of the World Trade Organization."
The law gives the customs tariff of the Council of Ministers upon the request of the Minister of Finance amend the customs duty provided for in the tariff schedule of customs duties and agricultural calendar attached to this law in cases of emergency to the need for economic and monetary actions require protection or treatment.
And Khalil, "The Economic Commission submitted a proposal calling for the allocation of tariff amounts to fund farmers and industrialists to support the Iraqis in order to enhance the level of the local product."
In the context of relevant criticized the Iraqi General Directorate of Customs overlapping jurisdictions between agencies responsible for border ports of Iraq, noting that the multiplicity of agencies in the ports work due to confuse everyone try to impose his control.

The Customs Authority announced earlier in the control of some tribes in the provinces on the border crossing points which makes it easier smuggling and the reluctance of some staff to work in those ports.
Iraq is linked with neighboring countries through 13 border ports, in addition to five outlets and five other air freely.
Iraq imports large quantities of canned food, soft drinks, meat and vegetable oils and cheeses, as well as household items, electrical appliances, from Arab and foreign countries such as Syria, Egypt, Iran and China.
