Signed by Oil Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi, the tripartite meeting of the Supreme Committee Minutes [Iraq - Jordan - Egypt] relating to the Memorandum of Understanding for extending an oil pipeline 490 kilometers long line from Iraq to the port of Aqaba in Jordan, and from there to North Africa via Egypt.
The office said in a statement that "the record was signed in the presence of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the Egyptian Minister Tariq Al-Mulla, Minister of Energy of Jordan and Mineral Resources Ibrahim Saif, after meetings involving working groups from the three countries to review the developments of what was agreed upon from the incoming projects in the Memorandum of Understanding that was signed in mid-November last in Jordan. "
The oil minister, Adel Abdul-Mahdi signed with the Egyptian and Jordanian counterparts in the November 15 last in the Jordanian capital Amman, a memorandum of understanding to enhance joint cooperation between Iraq, Egypt and Jordan in the field of oil and gas, so by extending the oil pipeline from the Iraqi territory to the port of Aqaba in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Abdul-Mahdi said in a joint news conference that "This project is an important strategic investment projects because it would add a new an export outlet for Iraq contributes to raise the export capacity of the country."
He pointed out that the memorandum provides for extending an oil pipeline 490 kilometers long line from Iraq to the port of Aqaba, and from there to North Africa via Egypt, expressing the direct implementation of the project hope the middle of next year, after the completion of geological surveys and technical studies for the project.
