MINNESOTA, — Iraqi President Jalal Talabani will return home this week after a successful medical treatment trip to the USA, close sources revealed on Saturday.
The source told Aswat al-Iraq that President Talabani will return to preside the coming Arab Summit due in Baghdad, at the end of this month.
Talabani, 80 years of age, assumed the presidency of Iraq in 2005.
Prior to his departure to the USA, he announced that all of his preparations for the convention of the coming Arab Summit had been completed.
His medical treatment trip led to difference among political entities that hindered the preliminary meetings before the National Conference.
Jalal Talabani suffers from serious heart problems, vision complications and extreme knee pains. He is not expected to recuperate that fast, Kurdistan Post website quotedsenior members of political bureau of president's party as saying.
Talabani, has had a long relationship with the US's Mayo Clinic. In the fall of 2009, he traveled to the US for a medical visit, and he underwent a reportedly successful heart surgeryat the clinic in August 2008.
