US-led forces have rained hell down on an ISIL headquarters in Iraq, obliterating a bomb-making factory. Declassified footage of a raid carried out last Tuesday shows a series of airstrikes hitting the factory near Al-Qaim, a town near the Syrian border. As vehicles drive past the headquarters, said to make improvised explosive devices, military surveillance shows the landscape being transformed into a maelstrom of smoke and fire, sending columns of smoke spewing into the air. It is unknown how many casualties were caused by the airstrikes. The US campaign to destroy ISIL, Operation Inherent Resolve, began in June last year and has destroyed more than 16,000 targets, according to the US defence department. The Coalition airstrikes in Iraq come amid claims from Russia that it has have carried out almost 150 raids against ISIL targets in Syria since it began bombing raids in late September.
