Ministry of Labor: More than 158 billion dinars , Social Security revenues in Iraq

Shafaq News/ The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced gaining more than 158 billion dinars as social revenues for workers in Baghdad

and the provinces except for Kurdistan region during the past nine months.


The spokesman of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs , Ammar Menem said in an interview received by Shafaq News, that the ministry is seeking to secure and expand social security benefits as a right for human that ensures living in dignity rights, noting that the expansion of the advantages of the insurance branches is (health insurance, work-related injuries insurance, retirement insurance and services insurance) to achieve the development and perpetuation of pension fund money and workers insurance.

He added that the Department of pension and social security for workers in the ministry achieved revenues of (158) billion and (585) million and (684) thousand dinars as of the current year until the end of September, indicating that the projects covered by the provisions of the law of retirement and social security number (39) of 1971, in the three business sectors (private, mixed and cooperative), it stood at (47 873) projects divided between Baghdad and the provinces.

Menem explained that social security revenues represented by (financial investment, payment security contributions and the percentage of the amounts realized from corporate profits as well as the rent of real estate of the department) under the laws are (law on the sale and lease of state property No. 21 of 2013, which regulates how to invest Real Estate government departments through Real Estate departments for rent or investment(

The first Social Security law is Law No. 27 of 1956, which stipulated mandatory savings and insurance and then released a number of laws and amendments down to Law No. 39 of 1971 which is currently used.
