Iraq and Iran sign memorandum of understanding to activate the work of technical committees of the border rivers

Baghdad {: News} Euphrates, the government struck with the Iraqi counterpart, the Iranian memorandum of understanding to activate the work of technical committees of the border rivers.

A statement by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) received by the agency Euphrates {News} a copy of it today, "The Minister of Water Resources Muhannad al-Saadi, signed with his Iranian counterpart during his visit to Tehran, a memorandum of understanding included the activation of the functional commissions of the Standing Joint border rivers."

He added: "It was also agreed between the two sides to identify the sources of pollution flowing into the Shatt al-Arab from Basra to its mouth and on both sides of the coast for the purpose of reducing pollution and improving water quality."

For his part, welcomed the Iranian side invited Iraq Iranian companies relevant to the implementation of reclamation projects, dams and facilities irrigation other to work in Iraq as well as to participate effectively tenders for the implementation of irrigation projects announced by the ministry in order to benefit from the experiences of Iran and the development of methods of irrigation that contribute effectively to reduce Aldaúat water and to ensure fair sharing of water distribution
