Kurdistan increases the volume of oil exports to 700,000 barrels per day

(IraqiNews.com) Erbil – Economic security adviser to the Kurdistan Regional Government Bioar Khansa announced on Wednesday, that the Kurdistan region has increased the size of its oil exports to 700 000 barrels per day, noting that the government of the region is trying to increase its oil production to 900 000 barrels by the end of 2015.

Khansa said in an interview for IraqiNews.com: “The Kurdistan Regional Government began the export of 700 thousand barrels of oil a day to world markets,” noting that “the raise of oil production came because of the financial pressure on Kurdistan.”

Khansa explained that “the region is suffering from a major financial crisis because of the lack of fulfillment of Baghdad to pay Kurdistan’s share of the budget of 2015, as well as the presence of a large number of displaced persons and refugees in the region,” pointing at the same time that “the war against ISIS is a burden on the government of the region. ”

Khansa added that “the region will increase the size of its production to 900 000 barrels of oil per day by the end of the year 2015,” explaining that “the region is trying through this plan to ensure staff salaries, amounting to $ 750 million a month.”
