President of Kurdistan Region Masoud Al Barzani assured, on Monday, that Kurds may no longer play the mediator role in solving Iraq’s issues. Barazani added that bases upon which the current government was formed are not being respected. The current government was formed to reinforce true partnership, comply with Iraqi Constitution, and fix disputes between Erbil and Baghdad, Barzani revealed.

“The current government was formed to reinforce true partnership, comply with Iraqi Constitution, return balance to state institutions, and fix disputes between Erbil and Baghdad,” Barzani said in a statement issued on the sidelines of his meeting with representatives of Arab and foreign diplomatic missions in Kurdistan. “We tried to play the mediator’s role to solve all Iraqi issues,” Barzani added noting that Kurds are not obliged to maintain their position especially that the government isn’t observing by aforementioned bases.

“Political process in Iraq is currently going thru the biggest crisis since 2003,” Barzani declared. “We are expecting a general meeting to find solutions for problems and to set mutual trust as our primary goal, because the current crisis is simply exceptional,” he uttered.

We praise Iraqiya list’s step as to returning to parliament,” Barzani advanced hoping that it would constitute the beginning of a new stage in relations and it would pave for the success for the upcoming meeting.

President of Kurdistan Region subsequently tackled Syrian Kurds’ issue assuring that a change in their state and the acknowledgment of their legal rights for being the second big component in Syria are important to Iraqi Kurds. “Kurdish community’s conference that was held in Erbil intended to unite Syrian Kurds’ speech and elect a single command,” Barzani advanced. “We support Syrian Kurds’ decision,” he concluded.
