Over 40 Years Later the Lyrics of "American Pie" Still Ring True...

    Hello All...

Found this article, and wanted to share it with you all because I for one love music... Especially music where lyrics have some depth, and meaning to them... I have listened to song many times throughout my life, and never really understood understood what Don McLean was trying to convey within it entirely... The ebb, and flow of the music do indeed coincide with the lyrics as this song can be uplifting at certain points, and melancholy in other areas of it...

It is funny how we can listen to songs that we loved in our youth, and never really paid attention to the lyrics, or the message that was being conveyed within them... Getting caught up in the music so to speak... I have often been quite "shocked" at hearing a song years later that I had enjoyed during my youth after listening intently to the same lyrics...

But there are certain songs that can be applied to just about any decade as it concerns the times we live in... American Pie, IMHO, is one of those that falls into that category as we have seen music styles change since it was first released to the public...

For those of us who were alive 40 years ago, we see the changes that have transpired over the years, and have come to realize that while we progress in a negative fashion as it pertains to the morality that prevails within our nation, we never return to the place of innocence that once defined most people... We may halt the momentum of what some deem as "progressive" behavior, but in the end it seems we as a whole come to accept that which is unacceptable in the eyes of our Creator as the norm...

Whether it is because of being made to feel guilty, or because of being worn down... Fear plays a factor as well in changing people's view on areas of life that were once considered immoral... There are those who are quite polished at writing, and speaking who can convey an argument that seems to be logical, and intelligent... But we understand through scripture how God views the "wisdom" of man apart from His... It is but foolishness, and in the end leads to suffering, and death..

These changes taking place are what have lead to the downfall of all nations that were once given the opportunity by our Creator to be great... Nothing has changed throughout the centuries, and that includes our Creator's view as it pertains to sinful behavior... His judgments have, and always will remain just, and consistent...

So while striving to find meaning, and what is just apart from God, people have found themselves wanting... As individuals look for fulfillment apart from God, the less likely one is to find contentment, and peace...

But with God there is healing, and a peace of mind that is beyond the realm of what anyone, or anything created could ever complete... But it takes one faith in Him in accordance to His Word, to understand the reality of our weakness while in the flesh... Our strength alone has been proven over the centuries to be insufficient... We need guidance, and council, and it begins from within... God's Spirit is likened to fire for it can purge that which will lead to our demise from within... But He is also Living Water in order to quench the thirst for our Savior's righteousness.. That is of course if one desires to drink from HIM....

And there lies the key to all of this... What do we desire, and where does our focus lie?... The physical realm is controlled by the spiritual realm... What transpires by that which is not seen, will manifest itself in the flesh... If mankind choices to live life outside of the parameters of God's divine grace, and Way, well the one who is invited in, whether one believes it or not, is the alternative... We are mere pawns in the overall scheme of things... But who we are pawns for, well, in the end, depends greatly on what our inmost being, or spirit seeks..

As Christ Jesus declared Himself, it is not necessarily what goes into us humans from a physical perspective, but what is already within one's self... But if one is weakened by a sin from within, that individual can certainly seek to find fulfillment of that lustful desire by outside forces, or circumstances... Which is why being honest about who we are, and where our weaknesses lie, is important to growth as we seek the grace, and knowledge of our Almighty Creator... WE must be wise in ensuring that we steer clear of vices that will cause us to transgress the will of God... While seeking the strength He alone can provide us to overcome carnal desires that we may have been born with, or adopted over the coarse of our lives...

The devil will bend his rules as long as he is allowed to influence in even the slightest... For as scripture points out, even a little "bad" leaven can leaven the whole lump... God wanted Adam, and Eve to not partake of the tree of good, and evil... Satan influenced them into believing it would ensure their being like God, or as gods... While there are those who are created that have existed, and still do exist that believe that they are gods, there has always, and always will be only One True God...

God has provided us warning whether directly, or through His Word... He did not desire for mankind to be brought to this state of being, yet God knew we would... Hence, His plan of salvation, and the desire for all of mankind to be saved from certain eternal death... We too should have that same mindset... Even for those who are our enemies... For we know that evil will have its way for a time allotted by God due to the continued escalation of sinful behavior on the part of mankind, and fallen entities spiritual in nature...

So this "heads up" we have been granted by God through His Word, should help us to understand, and prepare for what is surely going to come to pass before the triumphant return of the Son of God from heaven above... His throne was established long ago, and will forever be... May God's love continue to fill up our inmost being so as to endure to the end... For that is the only Way, and Truth that leads to eternal Life... To love's one enemies does not come natural for mankind... But it certainly should be developed within those who seek to please their Father in heaven... For His love is perfect, fearless, and can heal even the most broken of spirits...

By the way, here is the link to that article that inspired me to write this one... https://www.wnd.com/2015/04/don-mclea...-american-pie/

And here is a link to a song that I believe puts it all into perspective in a beautiful way... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZqRBqGsEYM

May God bless all of you as we seek to be the living sacrifices our Savior expects... For His glory, and not our own... Blessed be His Most Holy Name...
