UN and EU label Erbil court exemplary

ERBIL, Dec.7 (AKnews) - Multilateral organizations today declared the Erbil Investigation Court to be exemplary in a ceremony hosted by the United Nations and the European Union Integrated Rule of Law Mission for Iraq with Minister of Justice Judge Rauf Rashid attending.

Judge Adham Akram, head of Erbil Investigation Court told a press conference that his court "worked fairly".

"This accolade is definitely due to our constant efforts to restore the rights of the deprived," he added.

Akaram said the United Nations Development Programme has opened an office in the Court which offers free legal advice. It will provide lawyers to those who cannot afford legal fees.

The UNDP mission has offered legal consultancy and training for the staff of Erbil Investigation Court, installing electronic system for managing the archives in the Court as well as installing a law library.
