Iraq budgets 100 billion dinars to bring back skilled expatriates

2013-01-11

Officials budgeted 100 billion dinars ($86 million) for a project to bring skilled Iraqi expatriates back home in 2013, the Iraqi Ministry of Displacement and Migration announced Friday (January 11th).

"The project, launched yesterday by the Iraqi government under ministry supervision and in co-ordination with Iraqi embassies around the world, will provide houses and jobs for skilled Iraqi expatriates upon their return to the country," Sameer Nahi, the ministry's technical deputy, told Al-Shorfa.

"The project is the second stage of a campaign the government launched last year to bring back skilled Iraqi expatriates and make use of their expertise in re-building the country," he said.

The ministry will place various ads about the project in Iraqi embassies across the world to let expatriates know how much their country needs them, Nahi said.
