    Nijaifi meets heads of parliamentary blocs over exceptional session

    Baghdad (AIN) -The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Osama al-Nijaifi, started a meeting on Sunday with some of the heads of the parliamentary blocs to discuss the topics that will be tackled during the parliament exceptional session on today Sunday.

    Parliamentary source told All Iraq News Agency (AIN) "Nijaifi has held a meeting with some parliamentary blocs to review the files that will be discussed during the exceptional session, besides discussing the possibility of submitting the general amnesty law for vote."

    Earlier, Nijaifi has called to hold exceptional session, on Sunday, to discuss the political tensions.

    Baghdad (AIN) -The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Osama al-Nijaifi decided to convert the exceptional session to consultative session.

    Parliamentary source told AIN on Sunday "Nijaifi decided to convert the parliament exceptional session into consultative one for lack of quorum."

    Earlier, the Iraqi National Alliance has decided not to attend the exceptional session that was held on Sunday under invitation of Nijaifi, except the Ahrar bloc, also the session was boycotted by other parliamentary blocs.

    Baghdad (AIN) -The Parliamentary Citizen bloc withdrew from the exceptional parliament session of Sunday.

    Parliamentary source told All Iraq News Agency AIN on Sunday "The Citizen Bloc withdrew from the Iraqi Parliament's exceptional session where the number of the attendees is less than the required quorum by three MPs."

    Earlier, Nijaifi has called to hold exceptional session, on Sunday, to discuss the political tensions.

    Dissolving Iraqi Parliament & Government not practical, says Dharb

    Baghdad (AIN) -MP Zyad al-Dharb of the Hal bloc within the Iraqiya Slate stressed that dissolving the Iraqi Government and the Parliament cannot be applied practically since the country witnesses major constitutional gap.

    Dharb added in a statement to All Iraq News Agency "Dissolving the Government is in hands of the Parliament and the latter cannot be dissolved but by its MPs' approval, in this case the government will turn into a caretaker government."

    "Yet, the problem is with the government not with the parliament," he added.

    "The Government has to meet the demands of the demonstrators to settle the current crisis," Dharb concluded.

    BAGHDAD / NINA / A consultative session for the House of Representatives began for lack of a quorum to start the special meeting.

    A parliamentary source told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA /: "The quorum for the special session has not completed, which led to hold a consultative meeting."

    It was scheduled that a special meeting should have been held at one o'clock this afternoon, but the quorum for the meeting has not completed, after the citizen bloc, of the Supreme Islamic Council announced that it will not attend the meeting.

    It is mentioned that the Iraqi National Alliance announced its boycott the meeting except Ahrar bloc, of the Sadrist movement.

    BAGHDAD / NINA / MP, of the Iraqiya coalition, Talal al-Zobaie said that 15 MPs of the Iraqiya coalition were absentees and did not attend the special meeting of the House of Representatives, which did not take place due to lack of quorum.

    He told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / that today's session of the House of Representatives did not take place for lack of quorum, noting that the meeting was needed to 6 MPs to the necessary quorum for the session.

    Al-Zobaie said that 15 MPs of the Iraqiya coalition absented from today's session.

    BAGHDAD / NINA / The President of the Iraqiya coalition, Iyad Allawi has attended to the consultative meeting of the Council of Representatives, which began afternoon.

    A parliamentary source told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / that the special meeting needs only one MP to complete the quorum.

    The quorum for meetings of the Parliament requires the presence of / half plus one / which means 163 MPs.

    BAGHDAD / NINA / The head of the citizen parliamentary bloc, Baqir Jabr Al-Zubaidi said that "The citizen bloc is maintaining the unity and cohesion of the National Alliance."

    He said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / today 6, Jan: "The citizen and Ahrar blocs and some independent MPs had attended the meeting of leaders of political blocs and discussed the demands of the demonstrators, which included 13 points."

    He explained, "We saw that only / 4 / points related to the House of Representatives, which they were studied, " adding that " committees of the Legal Department were formed to consider the constitutionality of these demands and we must respect these demands, while the rest of the points are related to the government and the judiciary."

    The MP, of the citizen bloc, Hamed al-Khudari stressed that his bloc will not attend today's special session of the House of Representatives.

    BAGHDAD / NINA / The consultative meeting, of the House of Representatives that held this afternoon in the presence of President of the Council Osama al-Nujaifi has been lifted.

    It is noted that a special meeting was scheduled to be held today, but has not been held for lack of quorum.

    A Parliamentary source told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / that House of Representatives will hold its regular meeting next Tuesday.

    The MP for the state of law, Adel al-Maliki announced earlier today that the National Alliance will not attend the meeting of the House of Representatives today with the exception of the Sadrists.
