The United Nations on Saturday welcomed the recent agreement between Baghdad and Erbil to resume exporting oil from Kurdistan region.

This came in a statement released by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Iraq, Martin Kobler, today, in which he welcomed the agreement between Erbil and Baghdad to resume oil exports.

Last Thursday the central government of Iraq agreed to pay the oil companies operating in Kurdistan, the northern, semi-autonomous region of Iraq, and to raise oil production to 200,000 barrels per day.
