    I think Talibani is being kept safe from Maliki.

    I think Talibani has had enough of Maliki's "shenanigans"...
    and is waiting for the others to line up the solution.

    Talibani, the frail old man...
    is too important a piece of the puzzle to risk him being assasinated by Maliki's thugs...
    and it is not beyond belief to think that Maliki is capable of nearly any outrage..
    once he realizes the Talibani is no longer Iran's puppet.

    What's interesting is- if anything horns to Talabani, Mutlaq is next in line.......
