BAGHDAD, June 28 (AKnews) - Iraqiya List said today that calling for early elections is a constitutional procedure but lacks political support in the Council of Representatives.

Spokesman for the Accord Movement which belongs to Iraqiya Hadi al-Dhalimi said: "This demand is constitutional although we have reservations about the timing of the call being a reaction to the efforts to question PM Nouri al-Maliki."

Yesterday, in response to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Council of Representatives, Maliki called for holding early elections in the country to resolve the ongoing political crisis.

The position of Iraqiya List comes in line with the position of the Kurdish Blocs Coalition which described yesterday's call by PM Maliki to hold early elections as "unrealistic and unfortunate" and said it was a reaction to the efforts by some political parties to question him.
