Member of the parliamentary economy: The government’s five-year development plan is part of the electoral campaign

A member of the parliamentary committee on economy and investment, MP Harith al-Harthy, said Saturday that the government’s announcement of a five-year plan for development comes within the framework of electoral propaganda, pointing out that Iraq has not benefited from two previous plans in the same field.

Al-Harithi said in a statement to “Al-Ghad Press” that “Iraq has not implemented five-year development plans during the past years have already been announced by the Ministry of Planning,” noting that “the subject of a new five-year plan is surprising and useless and not to abide by what was announced In the previous”.

He pointed out that “the government’s announcement of the new plan comes within the portal of electoral propaganda aimed at obtaining the votes of citizens through the promises of the development and treatment of poverty and other files, which remained stubborn over the previous period.”

It is noteworthy that the Higher Technical Committee to prepare the National Development Plan 2018-2022 was held under the chairmanship of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning Maher Hammad Johan, an expanded meeting attended by all members of the Committee.
