Iraq Reconstruction Fund: We will announce the details of the Kuwait conference in the coming weeks

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq's reconstruction fund said on Tuesday it was still discussing the Kuwaiti side with regard to the level of representation at the Kuwait conference to be held in 2018, adding that the coming weeks will be announced details of the conference.

"The meetings and correspondence between the Kuwaiti and Iraqi sides are still ongoing, in order to reach a good stage of the Kuwait conference for the reconstruction of Iraq to be held in 2018," said Yasmin Jamal, head of grants and international assistance in the fund.

"Until now, nothing has been announced," Gamal said. "The preparations between the two sides are underway to reach a high-level conference, and in the coming weeks the details of the conference will be announced."

Kuwait's Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah said earlier that Kuwait had started contacts with the countries of the world, the World Bank and the Republic of Iraq to prepare for hosting a donor conference for the reconstruction of Iraq's liberated areas.

The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, last July telephoned Prime Minister Haider Abadi, expressing his congratulations to the government and the people of Iraq to win a duel in Mosul, stressing the readiness of Kuwait to host an international conference to restore the liberated areas in Iraq.
