Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said Tuesday that the federal government in Baghdad will not give up the unity and sovereignty of Iraq, pointing out that it will impose its federal authority according to the constitution. Continued..
"His government will not harm the dignity of any citizen, especially the Kurdish citizens," Abadi said during his weekly press conference, which was followed by the Iraqi Broadcasting Network (IBN), warning that the repercussions of the referendum would harm Kurdistan and Iraq in general.
He added that the leaders of the region did not listen to calls for local, regional and international referendum on "unconstitutional", stressing that "Baghdad will not negotiate with Kurdistan on the results of the referendum."
Abadi accused officials in response to "inflicting hatred" among citizens, while calling for the return of the federal budget of the central government under the Constitution.
