Sadr calls INA to nominate substitute for Maliki

Najaf (AIN) –The head of the Sadr Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr, called "The Iraqi National Alliance to nominate a candidate to replace the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki."

In response to question by one of his followers over conducting a referendum to nominate the Premier in case the political sides withdrew confidence from the government, he answered "NO, the Iraqi National Alliance should find the substitute," noting that "More than one candidate were presented."
Some MPs stated that Ibraheem al-Jaafary, Ahmed al-Chalabi, Hussien al-Shihristani and Khudhayer al-Khuzai, who are all from INA, were presented as substitutes for Maliki.

Earlier, informed source revealed that "Najaf meeting, which involved leaders of political blocs, resulted in two messages sent to the Iraqi National Alliance and the President, Jalal Talabani, to withdraw confidence from the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki."

The source stated to All Iraq News Agency (AIN) "The message sent to the INA involves a request to nominate a candidate to replace Maliki within a week."

"The message sent to Talabani involved a call to withdraw confidence from Maliki," the source added.
