Arab support is unprecedented for Iraq to withdraw Turkish troops and the Security Council's call for intervention
Arab Foreign Ministers Council renewed Gdanth Turkish forces incursion into Iraqi territory and called on the Turkish government to withdraw its troops "immediately and unconditionally" as an attack on Iraqi sovereignty and a threat to Arab national security.
This came in a statement issued by the Ministerial Council at the conclusion of the work of its 146 Thursday, confirmed it to "take a unified Arab position about a violation by Turkish forces of Iraqi sovereignty."
The statement called on the members of the League of Arab States to demand from the Turkish side, "Under the bilateral relations," the withdrawal of its forces from Iraqi territories to implement the decision of the Arab League Council Resolution 7987 in its extraordinary session in December 2015 and to raise these issues in its contacts with the Member States.
Member States also called for a request from the Turkish government's "non-interference in the internal affairs of Iraq and to desist from such provocative acts that would undermine the confidence-building and threaten the security and stability of the region."
The Ministerial Council reaffirmed its "support the Iraqi government's actions in accordance with the rules of international law and relevant, which aims to pull the Turkish government for its troops from Iraqi territory in order to entrench the sovereignty of the Government of Iraq on all its territory."
And he agreed to include the clause "incursion by Turkish troops in Iraqi territory and stop the Turkish intervention in the Arab neighboring countries," a permanent item on the agenda of the Arab League Council at the summit level to the table while achieving the expeditious withdrawal of these forces. "
The Council requested the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States to continue to follow up the implementation of the University Council's decision in this regard and submit a detailed report on the efforts made by him in this regard to the University Council at its next regular session.
And reaffirmed the continuation of the follow-up Arab member of the Security Council [Egypt] to demand included the withdrawal of Turkish troops from Iraqi territory and to take all necessary measures to achieve while the expeditious withdrawal of these forces.
