Iraq is a national poverty alleviation strategy in collaboration with the World Bank

Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Mahdi Keywords, announced Wednesday, to prepare national strategy for poverty alleviation in Iraq for the next four years, and while pointing to the success of Iraq to ease the poverty rate during the strategic stomach from 2010-2014, said the high poverty ratio after the control of the organization (Daash) spaces and a wide range of Iraqi territory

The Secretary General of the Council of Ministers Mahdi Keywords in an interview (range Press), "The government is now working in coordination with the World Bank to prepare a new strategy covering 2017 to 2020," noting that "the new strategy will be different from its predecessor, and taking into account the developments."

Keywords and added that "the government after the preparation preceding the national strategy for poverty alleviation in 2010 through 2014 happened during the years mentioned a clear reduction in poverty rates to 15% down from 23%, but unfortunately returned this ratio to rise again because of the events of June 2014, after Daash control of the organization for a number of areas. "


Keywords explained that "the control of the organization (Daash), on several tracts of land has caused the displacement of millions of citizens in addition to the drop in oil prices was the most important reasons that increased the poverty rate in Iraq."

Iraq has suffered from significant unemployment both among young people who are unable to work or class of university graduates, and believed many economists that the statistical estimates for these young people do not necessarily reflect reality actually existing. As the country suffers, a severe housing crisis in view of the increasing population, relative to the number of residential complexes, in addition to the inability of citizens with limited income from the construction of its own housing units, because of the high cost of land and construction materials.
