US Ambassador to Iraq: Iraq's capital investment budget of $ 400 billion

The US ambassador in Iraq, Stuart Jones, with the participation of Minister of Planning and Salman al-Jumaili and director of the Council of Prime Minister's Office Mahdi Keywords activities of the Ministry of Planning conference under the title "Development reform program in Iraq," which was held on Thursday, Rashid Hotel in Baghdad, according to a statement issued by the embassy.

The statement added that the conference celebrated the Iraqi government's decision, which imposes the use of standardized documents and tenders for all government projects.

The conference also saw the launch of "Developer Development Management Program (IDMS) and the updated system of contracts" designed to achieve a more effective management of the government's development projects as well as development projects financed by donors in Iraq.

The statement pointed out that it will be for these major reforms crucial role in ensuring fair and transparent management of public funds. The process of improving the management of the economic assets of the country's vital factor contributes to strengthening infrastructure and improving the quality of services provided to Iraqi citizens.

For his part, he congratulated the US ambassador Stuart Jones, the Government of Iraq on these new reforms, stressing its implementation at the national and local levels in the governorates.

The statement quoted the ambassador as saying that these new reforms will help in the supervision of the capital investment of the government's budget, worth 400 billion US dollars, as well as that these reforms are of their importance in solving the problem of delays that led to the suspension of nearly 4,000 projects, noting that it will ensure the availability of better prospects for the government to sign contracts with solid reputable firms which reduces conflicts, corruption and waste to a large degree.

The statement concluded that the United States Embassy in Iraq, and through administrative reform project "thread" is funded by the United States Agency for International Development, it supports the efforts of the Government of Iraq's efforts to build capacity in order to provide better services for Iraqi citizens.
