CoI organizes a symposium discussing efficient methods of reporting instances of financial and administrative corruption

The symposium organized by the CoI in Wasit Province detailed the investigative role of the inspector general offices throughout Iraq (with the exception of Kurdistan Regional Government).

The symposium was held in cooperation with the staff of the Textile and Leather Industries State Company- Textile Province Factory. It discussed the mechanisms of dealing with penal cases and the investigation into such cases, under supervision of the investigative judiciary.

The symposium also referred to the method of receiving tips and complaints by the oversight agencies, and the method handling such tips. The symposium also detailed the duties of the inspector general offices in receiving tips regarding administrative and financial corruption, and the role of the said entities and information in the administrative investigation. The symposium also noted that such information could be used to expose the short comings of the administrative system.

The attendees of the “The role of the investigations office in corruption cases” Symposium include more than 40 employees of State Textile Factory in Wasit Province. They praised the preventive role and approach taken by the CoI, which aims at educating public officials about the penalties of law. Such approach would contribute to preventing the public officials from falling into the corruption trap, and enables them to work as effective tools of combating corruption.
