Barzani calls on the international community to secure Kurdistan's share of loans granted to Iraq

The head of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Nechirvan Barzani, on Monday, securing Kurdistan region's share of the loans granted by the international community for Iraq, pointing out that cutting the budget the province by Baghdad and the fight against al "Daash" and sheltering the displaced and falling oil prices highlighted the challenges facing Kurdistan.

Barzani said in a statement issued today, after a meeting with the European Union's ambassador to Iraq, Patrick Simeone said that "the major challenges faced by the Kurdistan region are cutting the region's share of the budget by Baghdad and the war against Daash and sheltering a large number of displaced people in the Kurdistan region," pointing to the "the fall in oil prices had a negative impact on the situation in the Kurdistan region."

Barzani said, "The Kurdistan Regional Government is committed to reform its procedures to overcome the financial crisis," and expressed hope that "the international community and the coalition and friends provide assistance to the region and look more realistic to the Kurdistan region."

Barzani pointed out that "the Government of the Territory her convinced that all problems should be solved through dialogue, especially as the center and the region are facing a financial crisis," stressing "the need to secure a share of the Kurdistan region of loans granted by the international community for Iraq."

For his part, Simone b praised "the good level of relations, coordination and cooperation between the European Union and the Kurdistan region," noting that it takes a "situation of Kurdistan, which is under threat due to the economic crisis into consideration," according to the statement.
