Baghdad and Tehran sign a memorandum in the field of fight against corruption and the recovery of smuggled money

The representative of Iraq Chairman of the Integrity Commission Hassan al-Yassiri, on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding with the Iranian public inspection Organization (GIO) to draw the cooperation in the field of anti-corruption, prevention and recovery of funds smuggled frameworks.

The head of Iran's General Inspection Organization (GIO) Nasser Seraj The purpose of the MOU is to establish a framework for cooperation and exchange of experiences, noting that the agreement came in line with the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) and in accordance with international commitments expressed in the Convention, and taking into account the intention of the parties clearly, in the field of prevention and fight against corruption and the activities of surveillance and investigation.

Both parties have expressed their consent to the expansion of the "fruitful cooperation" and taking into account the differences between their systems and their common interests, expressing the hope to provide each party utility to another in modern academic achievements related to the memorandum of understanding, as well as the exchange of experiences and good practices; to achieve fairness and transparency in the fields the public.

The UN Convention Against Corruption necessitated States Parties shall assist each other in the fight against corruption, including prevention, investigation and prosecution of offenders, and cooperation in extradition, mutual legal assistance and transfer of expertise, noting that the agreement came in line with the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) and in accordance with international commitments expressed in the Convention, and taking into account the clear determination of the parties in the field of prevention and fight against corruption and the activities of surveillance and investigation.
