Cabinet approves electricity contract with a US company for the rehabilitation of power plants

The Council of Ministers approved, on Wednesday, at the Ministry of Electricity to contract with a US company for the rehabilitation and development of the stations to add electrical energy before next summer, also approved the recommendation on a proposed settlement consensual for a contract between the General Company for Agricultural Supplies of the Ministry of Agriculture with two Ordnitan.
The prime minister's office said Haider al-Abadi said in a statement that "the Council agreed during its meeting held today at the Ministry of Electricity to contract with a company (GE) of the US rehabilitation and development of power plants to add additional power before next summer."
The statement added, "The Council also approved the recommendation of the Committee on Economic Affairs, on the settlement proposal consensual for agreement between the General Company for Agricultural Supplies of the Ministry of Agriculture contract with my company (Brufemi / Jordan for industry concentrates feed, Jordan Trade and Nassif), and according to the letter of the Ministry Agriculture / legal department of a number (41490), dated 08.11.2015 ".
It is noteworthy that Iraq is suffering a shortage of electricity since the beginning of 1990, and increased hours of power rationing after 2003 in Baghdad and the provinces, at the time the ministry has contracted with international companies to establish a number of production plants.
