Masum: Iraq needs international economist advisers to overcome the financial crisis

Shafaq News / The President of the Republic of Iraq , Fuad Masum, said that the country needs international economic advisers to help overcome the financial crisis taking place in it.

According to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic, Masum met on Tuesday evening in the French capital Paris, Secretary-General of the International Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Mr. Angel Gurria.

The statement added that during the meeting , they talked about the economic reality in Iraq in light of the oil price crisis, and the impact on life facilities in Iraq, where President Masum commended the efforts made by the Organization in support of Iraq

The statement quoted Masum as saying that the security and economic concern is a key priority at this stage, and in parallel with military support received by Iraq of the international coalition, Iraq needs consultancy from international friends to overcome the financial crisis and revive the Iraqi economy.

For his part, Gurria pointed to the activities and efforts of the international Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in the whole region, especially Iraq, stressing the Organization's support to Iraq on humanitarian and economic level in the light of the war being waged against ISIS in Iraq.

Angel Gurria presented ways of the organization to support the Iraqi people, on the level of institution-building , fight against corruption and promoting transparency and securing attractive investment environment, expressed the readiness of the organization to provide all what Iraq needs in these critical areas
