Representatives for political blocs (the National Alliance, Iraqiya Alliance and Kurdish Alliance) agreed during their meeting on Monday evening, Feb. 6, at the President’s Office, attended by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and Speaker of Parliament, Usama al-Nijaifi, that all components of Iraqi society be fully represented in the political process.

In a communique issued after their meeting, they agreed on the commitment by all participants in the political process to stand up together against terrorism and illegitimate armed groups that threaten Iraq; and to consider the Constitution a base toward solving all disputes.

They agreed on keeping the Iraqi judiciary an independent authority alongside other authorities away from political influence.

In his speech at the meeting, President Jalal Talabani called for drawing a road map for the political process, within the frames of the Constitution and Erbil Agreement 2010 to be presented before political leaders.

The meeting welcomed Iraqiya’s decision that its law makers members resume attending Parliament’s sessions and its minister resume attending cabinet meetings.
