(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – MP from the Kurdistan Alliance Chakhuan Abdullah announced on Tuesday presenting a number of candidates to the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi for the post of Chief of Army Staff, noting that al-Abadi has not ratified them so far, while he threatened of secession from Iraq’s defense system in the event of failure to give them the post of Chiefs of Staff.

Abdullah said during a press conference today in the parliament building attended by IraqiNews.com, “we have presented the names of the candidates for the post of Army Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, but the latter has not ratified them so far,” and expressed hope “about approving those names during the 20 days.”

Abdullah added that “in the absence of ratification of our candidates for the presidency of this post, we will announce that we are not part of the defense system of Iraq,” indicating that “the position is the share of the Kurds.”
