Ankara officially signs pact allowing Washington to use Incirlik base

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – On Wednesday the Turkish Foreign Ministry announced, that Ankara has signed a formal agreement with the United States allowing the international coalition forces to use Incirlik air base against ISIS.

The spokesman for the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Tango Bagheij, said that “his country’s government has signed officially today an agreement with the United States provides to the international coalition forces to use Incirlik air base.”

Bagheij added that “the agreement only allows the use of this base, which is located in the city of Adana in southern Turkey, against ISIS,” explaining that “the coalition operations do not include providing air support for Kurdish fighters, who have been fighting ISIS in Syria.”
