Plan to grant provinces central government authorities - Maliki

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Provinces will be given all the authorities of the central government , except those related to sovereignty, security, foreign policy and distribution of wealth, a plan announced by Premier Nouri al-Maliki today outlined.

In a statement issued by his office following a meeting with a number of Anbar tribal sheikhs and elder personalities, Maliki introduced the new plan.

Maliki approved the demands of Anbar delegation, except those outside his constitutional limits.

The statement added that Anbar delegation stressed their support of the government and unity of the country.
