    Anbar Governor says that there are intense contacts with Baghdad to release Alwani

    Ramadi (NINA) – The Governor of Anbar, Ahmed Khalaf al-Dulaimi, said that there are intense contacts by the Local Government with the Central Government to release the lawmaker, from the province, Ahmed al-Alwani.

    Anbar Chairman: The Government has committed a grave mistake by arresting Alwani, killing his brother

    Ramadi (NINA) – Chairman of Anbar Provincial Council, Sabah Karhout, described the arrest of lawmaker Ahmed al-Alwani as a grave mistake.

    In a statement on Saturday, Dec. 28, to NINA Karhout said that the Anbar Provincial Council, condemns the arrest of lawmaker from Anbar province, Ahmed al-Alwani, and killing his brother, as well as a number of his guardsmen and family members, after clashes between the military and Alwani’s guards at dawn Saturday, as a grave mistake because of the way Alwani was arrested.

    Karhout added that Anbar Council held an emergency meeting, and came out with important decisions, including demanding the Prime Minister to immediately release Alwani and make the military force that arrested him accountable for the way it carried out the arrest.

    He went on saying that the security situation in Anbar province is getting worst, especially after the arrest of Alwani and killing his brother as well as a number of his family members, making things not easy to calm or control it by local government.

    Nijaifi meets with number of officials to reach solution to current political crisis

    Baghdad (NINA) – Speaker of Parliament, Usama al-Nijaifi, held series of talks to contain the Ramadi crisis.

    Nijaifi met with Vice President, Khoda'yir al-Khuza'e, and leader of the National Alliance, Ibrahim al-Jafari, to contain the crisis of Ramadi sit-in square, discuss the future of the political process within the security and political scenes, especially the acute crisis the country is going through, especially the crisis of Ramadi sit-in square and the arrest of lawmaker Ahmed al-Alwani, as well as the clashes that took place afterward between security forces and citizens.

    Shallah: “Alwani caught red handed in shooting on ISF”

    Harb: Parliament approval not required to lift immunity from Alwani

    Baghdad (AIN) –The Legal expert Tariq Harb assured that “Lifting the immunity from the fugitive MP who is accused of committing a crime does not require approval from the Parliament.”

    Harb stated to AIN “Any Parliamentary Member who commits a crime that can be proved can be arrested without need to lift immunity from him according to Article 63 of the Iraqi Constitution which gave the MPs immunity on unproved crimes only.”

    “The proved crimes include murder, terrorist crimes and bribe,” according to Harb, who noted that “The proved crime means the crime which is seen when committed or after committing it or even during armed clashes.”

    Wardi demands Parliament to hold urgent session over Anbar events

    Baghdad (AIN) –MP, Leqa' Wardi, of the Iraqiya Slate demanded the Parliament to hold an urgent session to discuss the current events taking place in Anbar province.

    Wardi reported in a statement received by AIN ''The Parliament should expedite the process of holding an urgent session to discuss recent political developments on Iraqi arena and the kind of procedures that supposed to be adopted in implementing the military operations in Ramadi city.''

    ''The agenda of the Parliament session should include the case of arresting MP, Ahmed al-Alwani, who enjoys the Parliamentary immunity, after being arrested by army forces on Saturday, today, morning within armed clashes, that resulted in killing his brother, Ali Suleiman al-Alwanii,'' she concluded.
