Former U.S. official: Iraq is in danger .. We do not know why the shake Washington hand for everything?
    24-03-2013 | (Voice of Iraq)

     translation term
Saw former official of the Foreign Affairs Office of the U.S. State Department to global security that Iraq is passing through a dangerous phase, and alluded to the need to establish in regions within a unitary republic.
Said Eli Soegarmn, who is currently working at the Truman Project for National Security, said that after almost a decade on the liberation of Iraq, the country is now a friend and ally of the United States. But he still suffers from ethnic and sectarian strife. Iraq's fledgling democracy oscillates between inertia and conflict over the past nine years. Each time the same pattern is repeated, as it starts and climb rapidly to a high level, but until it becomes more susceptible to burning.
The writer says, "in the last week I visited the Kurdish region in Iraq to meet with businessmen and political leaders." He added that "one thing became clear during discussions with them, namely that" the country is in danger of ignition again. "
"If unchecked tensions immediately and given all the political blocs large voice in the future of the country, the political system of Iraq unemployed divided and is in danger of the reaction to the violence."
He continues by saying that "in the heart of the political crisis lies Parliament Thalh bickering and corruption." He explained that "the political blocs and ministers are boycotting some routine parliamentary sessions, and prefer to stripping each other rather than the rule. Parliament failed to pass crucial laws, such as the law of the proposed oil and gas, which governs the development of the key to the Iraqi economy: the hydrocarbon sector."
Said Eli Soegarmn "The prime minister's Shi'ite increasing strength, Nuri al-Maliki, began accumulate power in the wake of the parliamentary elections held in 2010. And was able to secure a second term after a tug of war for power as long as eight months through his promise to share power with other political blocs, including the Iraqi Kurds., but this promise was soon broken. as money-Maliki to assert control personal security forces, and targeted officials Year prominent orders arrest, and somehow stripped them of much of the collateral provided for in the Constitution. " The writer felt that "Maliki snapped procedures widespread protests in the Sunni-majority provinces in December 2012 and is still ongoing. Today, many fear in the Iraqi parliament that he is establishing a dictatorship."
The writer continued, "In contrast, the suspected al-Maliki that his opponents want to overthrow him in order to bring the Prime Minister more willingly give in to their own desires and will be too weak to lead the country. Iraqi competitor Maliki political, proved it's not efficient politically. Has allowed Tnavsadtha interior that weaken their gathering partisan , and now a lot of prominent leaders discredited the eyes of the Sunni street. "
And the author's argument that "the Sadrists, who surrendered to pressure Iran and supported state-Maliki second before, exposed maneuvers also frustration and marginalization. Now, turn their leader militia leader and cleric enthusiastic Moqtada al-Sadr to be reintroduced himself actively he voted communal harmony and moderation in Iraq, In an attempt to build a broader political base size.
The writer added that "relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government region which enjoys broad independence in northern Iraq and the central government has also deteriorated rapidly. No Kurds convinced only that Maliki seeks to persecute them, as did the previous government, but they fear that he intended to disrupt their economy."
The writer felt that "the image of the Iraqi political situation is further complicated by the disparate policies carried out by the Major Players three external: Iran and the United States and Turkey."
For Iran, the author says, they "supported Maliki but curbed his national spiraling through the provision of support also for other Shi'ite groups, including the Sadrists."
In the meantime, the author says that "Turkey has established relationships very cool with Maliki. Turkey want to grant authority to the Iraqi Sunnis and contain Iran (rival historical). Aside from this, there is personal animosity between Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan and Maliki. These motives, to by Turkey's desire to obtain the Kurdish energy resources, led to the weakening of ties with Iraq's central government. "
The United States, as the author argues, it "the most negative of all those after it abandoned its previous approach in direct intervention in favor of adopting a policy of wait and watch. During my visit to Iraq, Many Iraqi Lee expressed particular Kurds of them expressed surprise and dismay of U.S. policy this. Many Iraqis do not understand why shake Washington their hands of Iraq, with the cost of U.S. intervention large. An expected visit to Erdogan to Washington this year will give the United States and Turkey the opportunity to discuss (and possibly coordinate) their policies dissonant toward Iraq, including the establishment of pipeline Kurdish oil. "
And the author's argument that "there is little time for Iraqi politicians because of that Iraq is likely to face a rough ride in the coming year. President Jalal Talabani and broker political agreements high level that helped relieve political pressure before arriving at critical levels currently suffering from challenges serious health may be forced to resign. departure will increase the Iraqi political scene already troubled, difficult. If left office, it will increase the power of the prime minister. "
He concluded by saying that "tensions between Prime Minister Maliki and Sunni and Kurdish bloc is approaching rapidly from the threat of future of the country as the Republic of federal standard. And Iraq must be able to manage its divisions sectarian and ethnic deep through a political process more inclusive give all Iraqis a voice where constitution also provides Iraq. "
