    Nujaifi hopes to pass the budget away from policy of arm-twisting.

    BAGHDAD / NINA / Parliament Speaker Osama Nujaifi said, "We are against the policy of arm-twisting taken by some to pass the budget or any other law."

    Nujaifi said, during the opening ceremony for women in the House of Representatives: "We hope that we get to the national political consensus today in approving the federal budget away from arm-twisting and bargains taken by some politicians to pass the budget or any other laws."

    Tahir admits difficulty of Budget endorsement during Thursday session

    Baghdad (AIN) –Independent MP, Abdul Khudur al-Tahir, admitted the difficulty of endorsement the Budget law of 2013 during Thursday session of the parliament.

    He stated to AIN “The vote on the Budget law is not complete yet because voting on 12 articles with this law does not mean its endorsement.”

    “Without voting on all its articles, the result will be as if we did not read it at all,” he added.

    “The vote on the rest articles will be more difficult during Thursday session,” he concluded.

    MP describes 2013 General Budget as "Political"

    Baghdad (AIN) –MP, Nahida al-Diani, of the Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee described the General Budget of 2013 as "Political."

    Speaking to All Iraq News Agency (AIN), he said "There is no economic vision in Iraq due to the lack of the economic planning which was supposed to be set by the economic experts as what is done in most of the countries."

    "The politicians in Iraq are setting the economic plans in addition to the help of the economic experts," she added, noting that "The Budget is political and not economic where the economic plans must be taken into consideration such as the Human Resources and the lack of services in the provinces."

    "Settling this issue can be achieved by forming a Supreme Economic Council in addition to the consultation of the foreign experts and the variation to the economic incomes in Iraq," she concluded.

    Vote on some items of the budget, in the absence of Kurdish component, "incorrect procedure."

    BAGHDAD / NINA / The independent Kurdish MP, Mahmoud Othman described vote on some paragraphs of the budget in the absence of Kurdish component is "incorrect procedure" which is not consistent with the political consensus.

    He explained in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / that "insisting on vote on the budget in the absence of all MPs of Kurdish component and half the members of the Iraqiya coalition, will give incorrect impression, and will complicate the situation among the political blocs, and will affect passing laws in the next phase."

    He explained that " vote on some paragraphs of the budget yesterday, led to the postponement of the visit of Prime Minister of Kurdistan to Baghdad, which was scheduled yesterday evening, as well as it will affect on the efforts of the province in question of convergence among the blocs, pointing out that" there were breakthroughs before the vote on the budget, but what happened after that would adversely affect the general political situation in the country and on the relations between the political blocs in the future. "


    The House of Representatives had voted, in its meeting yesterday, under the chairmanship of Osama Nujaifi, President of the Council and in the presence of 168 MPs on 12 articles of the Federal budget, then the session adjourned to Thursday.

    All members of the Kurdistan Alliance and half members of the Iraqiya coalition, did not attend the meeting, for the lack of consensus on some budget's items. "/

    Shwani warns from ignoring Kurdish demands concerning Budget law

    Baghdad (AIN) –MP, Khalid Shwani, of the Kurdistani Alliance warned from endorsing the Budget law without considering the Kurds’ demands.

    He stated to AIN “Endorsing the Budget in this way means ignoring the principal of accord upon which the Iraq modern State is built,” noting that “The Budget law that involves political side could not be endorsed through the majority or the minority without accord.”

    “The Iraqi National Alliance did not manage to endorse the current draft of this law because of the lack of quorum during Wednesday session,” he added.

    “Kurdish MPs insist on considering their demands over the Budget and these demands are constitutional and legal right that must be adopted,” he continued.

    “If the INA MPs endorsed the current draft, they must be responsible of the political consequences,” he stressed.

    “Such policy in running the State will deepen the political crises that we suffer from at the current time,” he concluded.

    Alewi accuses KA of hindering Budget endorsement

    Baghdad (AIN) –MP, Kareem Alewi, of the Iraqi National Alliance accused the Kurdistani Alliance of hindering the endorsement of the Budget law of 2013.

    Speaking to AIN, he mentioned “Iraqis are aware currently of these sides that aim at achieving personal interests,” noting that “The main side hurdle the Budget endorsement is the Kurds who wants illegitimate demands.”

    “The Kurds wants to exploit the political disputes to pressurize to get more benefits,” he added.

    He expressed his hope for Kurds “To work as part of Iraqis and to call for their rights without harming the rights of the other communities.”

    IS MP: Endorsement Budget law without accord to create new crisis

    Baghdad (AIN) –Member of the Iraqiya Slate, Ghayda Gambush, stressed that the IS supports the endorsement of the Budget law after reaching an accord concerning its draft.

    She stated to AIN “Endorsement of the Budget law without accord will create new crisis.”

    “Among the priorities of the IS is to implement the demonstrators’ demands but the endorsement of the Budget without reaching a compromise will affect the demonstrators,” she concluded.

    Sadr directs his followers to demonstrate on Friday.

    Najaf / NINA / The Office of Sadr in Najaf issued, what it described, instructions from the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr concerning the demonstrations in Baghdad and the other provinces.

    An official source, from the Sadr's office confirmed that Muqtada al-Sadr confirms and orders to hold "united demonstrations" on Friday after prayers in all Iraqi provinces "he said.

    The source added in Baghdad there will be two demonstrations, the first in Rusafa, in Sadr City and the second in Karkh "the west side of Baghdad."

    It is mentioned that Sadr had threatened the House of Representatives to stage "massive demonstrations" if they failed to approve the federal budget.

    MP: directly negotiate with the government is positive step.

    BAGHDAD / NINA / MP, of the state of law coalition, Ali al-Shilah said that forming a delegation of Anbar's protesters to negotiate with the government is positive and important step to implement the legitimate demands.

    He told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / "This step will uncover some politicians, who claim that they represent the demonstrators while their action is electoral propaganda nothing else."

    He added "The Prime Minister was, from the beginning, with the implementation of the demands of the demonstrators constitutionally and legally," noting that "the committees, that were formed, were serious and freed 6 000 detainees as well as transferring the female detainees to their provinces."

    The Organizing Committee for the sit-in of Anbar announced the formation of a committee representing the protesters to transfer claims and rights and discuss them with the central government in Baghdad.
