    Maliki, Hakeem discuss demonstrators' legitimate demands

    Baghdad (NINA) – Leader of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council (SIIC), Ammar al-Hakeem, discussed with Prime Minister, Nuri al-Maliki, the demonstrators' legitimate demands and means to speed up implementing them.

    In the meeting, Hakeem urged Maliki to work jointly toward getting out of current political crisis.

    He renewed his call to Iraqiya slate to go back on its decision of suspending its membership in Parliament; pointing out that Parliament has a big role in amending the law that contribute in facilitating the measures toward fulfilling the demonstrators' legitimate demands.

    Hakeem pointed out that his meeting with Maliki dealt also with bilateral relations and the National Alliance's affairs, stressing that he discussed demonstrators' legitimate demands and steps adopted, as well as means to speed up fulfilling them in cooperation with all related authorities.

    For his part, Maliki affirmed that his meeting with Hakeem was a complementary to their earlier meetings.

    Sa'ad calls for implementing largest number of reforms

    Baghdad (NINA) – Lawmaker from Fadheela bloc, Suzan al-Sa'ad, called on the government to speed up implementing the largest number of reforms that correspond with the citizens' legitimate demands.

    In a statement to the press on Friday, Feb. 1, Sa'ad said, "Some of the demonstrators' demands are legitimate and can be implemented, through efforts by legislative, executive and judicial authorities; while some other demands cannot be implemented, such as the release of convicts, abolishing Justice and Accountability Law and Article 4 of Anti Terrorism Law."

    She added that Fadheela Party believes that Iraq's democracy depends two main bases: Constitution and dialogue, being best mean to solve problems.

    "The political system is an outcome of agreement between all political components, based the independence of judiciary, and separation between authorities." She concluded.
