MOSUL — Iraqi troops on Wednesday recaptured al-Jamhuriyah street and al-Shuhadaa park in the center of Mosul city on the west coast and are preparing to storm a government compound in the area.

General Abdul Khaliq Fathi from the Federal Police told BasNews "the security forces were deployed heavily in Jamhuriyah Street in central Mosul, in preparation to storm the government compound on the right side of the city."

He pointed out that "the security forces killed five suicide bombers during the clashes in Shuhadaa Park," noting that "the army and police forces will storm the government departments during the next few hours."
