Source reveals the meeting of Abadi and Sadr .. conditional Second Term!
Baghdad today – A source familiar with the Sadrist movement, the scenes of the meeting of the leader of the current Moqtada al-Sadr, Prime Minister Haider Abadi in Baghdad.
The source said in an interview with Baghdad today that “the leader of the Sadrist movement, Moqtada al-Sadr, agreed to give Prime Minister Haider Abadi a second term, during the meeting they had just gathered in Baghdad.”
He added that “Sadr demanded the return of Abadi from the Dawa Party and pledges to fight corruption fully, including names influential in the political process.”
Sadr’s office revealed details of Sadr’s meeting in Baghdad after midnight on Sunday.

BGG ~ Folks are constantly wanting a “run down” on where we’re at in this investment…
Unfortunately, this is a tough call. Anyone claiming they have THE “broad base” of knowledge on Iraq and the Dinar – is lying or is truly ignorant as to how much they don’t know.
For instance, until late last night, we were still waiting for the real results to be published by the IHEC. Up until then, everything was speculation.
Will Sadr have a much bigger hand in the next GOI? Highly likely. Is he the overall winner? Now we know for sure… but he still needs help. He needs a legitimate coalition.
Will Abadi be in the next GOI? Also highly likely. Will he remain as the next PM? Maybe, maybe not.
I give that one 50/50… uhhhhhh – maybe 40/60… or could be 30/70. Whatever…
You get what I’m saying. Let this thing play out a little bit and don’t be gobbling up every piece of rumor out there AS FACT (or some ignorant layman commentary).
My bet? We have a couple of twists and turns coming real soon. So relax… and even if Abadi isn’t the next PM – RELAX.
He may not be the best thing for Iraq’s future. Since you are betting on Iraq and their economy, you want the best for them. As do I.

Mnt Goat (Dinar Guru) – …So we all know that Al-Abadi did lose the popular votes, thus he did lose the election, however…Could Al-Abadi be the next PM even though he lost the popular election? …even though a candidate runs for office and does not win the overall popular vote, he/she can still possibly be nominated as the candidate for the office and, if ratified by parliament, take the duty of forming the next government of Iraq, thus the prime minister position. ...So, in this election process of 2018, we see that Al-Sadr does not want to be prime minister since he is a cleric but wanted to be able to select someone who will fulfill the “Sadr Movement’s” party policies. So, who will he select?
That is the million dollar question… …Al-Abadi can be nominated and probably will be the nominee submitted to parliament by the “Sadr Movement”. However, having said this, it is very premature…There is no proof of this. All the news states Al-Sadr has to still decide however he is open to it. This is what he really said. Let’s just watch it all play out and see if there are any surprises…

BGG ~ There is no cat – and no bag. The IHEC will address all the complaints in a thorough and complete fashion. If there were fraud – do you think anyone willing to pull such a thing off wanted Sadr to be the winner? C’MON MAN!! The USA doesn’t order the General to do anything, he is our enemy. He does as the Mullahs tell him.
Regarding E.O. 13303 – this is a continuing Executive Order. It is extended every year. This year being no surprise and no “harbinger” of things to come.

Sadr wins Iraqi parliamentary elections with 54 seats
Iraq’s election commission has released final results for the parliamentary election.
As expected, the Sayirun alliance of Muqtada al-Sadr and the Communist Party has won the most seats – 54 of the parliament’s total 329.
The Fatih alliance with ties to Iranian-backed militias came second with 47 seats, pushing the Victory (Nasr) alliance of incumbent Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi into third place with 42 seats.
Among the Kurdish parties, the KDP won the most seats with 25, putting it fifth overall in the country, one seat behind Nouri al-Maliki’s State of Law coalition.
The PUK won 18 seats.
The breakdown of the frontrunners and the Kurdish parties is as follows:
Sayirun – 54 seats
Fatih – 47 seats
Victory (Nasr) alliance – 42 seats
State of Law – 26 seats
KDP – 25 seats
Al-Wataniya – 22 seats
Hikma Front – 19 seats
PUK – 18 seats
Gorran – 5 seats
New Generation – 4 seats
Komal – 2 seats
CDJ – 2 seats
KIU – 2 seats
Parties have three days to file complaints.

Sadr and Abadi close to declaring a clear alliance in Iraq

Sadr meets Hakim to discuss possible governing alliance
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Muqtada al-Sadr, leader of the winning election alliance Sayirun, has met with the prominent Shia leader Ammar al-Hakim, head of the National Hikma (Wisdom) Movement, in Najaf to discuss forming a government.
Both sides say they agree on the need to form a representative government.
“I am thankful to the Iraqi people who voted in the current elections, those who helped reform triumph. [For] even those who abstained from voting, thank you, as they didn’t give their votes to the corrupt,” Sadr told journalists following the meeting.
“God willing, we are looking at a new stage for building in Iraq a democratic, paternal and technocratic government,” Sadr added.
The two leaders have not always been on good terms, according to many sources, with Sadr once saying he would not engage with Hakim politically or share a platform with him prior to the election.
Hakim’s alliance came out as the sixth largest party in the election, even trailing behind the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), with a preliminary result of 22 seats.
Hakim termed the meeting a “valuable opportunity,” where they discussed the election and its results and potential party combinations in government.
“We examined the necessity of forming a government that is national, strong, independent in its political decisions, dependent on the will of the free Iraqi nation, and with a national orientation that transcends components and represents all the sons of the people of Iraq,” Hakim told journalists.
Talk of a possible Sayirun-Hikma alliance marks a good start, Hakim said. Both leaders are open to further talks with any party standing on an anti-corruption, cross-sectarian and cross-ethnic, and pro-reform platform, he added.
He also called on the election commission to seriously examine complaints and allegations of fraud.
“It is clear that the decrease in turnout in elections is a message from the people of Iraq that they want new faces, serious programs and steps to provide the necessary and proper services to the sons of our people,” Hakim added.
Sadr has said he could support incumbent Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi for a second term, owing to similarities in their election pitch.
In a recent pun-heavy tweet, Sadr hinted at potential alliances he wishes to see in an upcoming government.
The KDP, Abadi’s Nasr (Victory) Alliance, Hakim’s Hikma, and some other parties were included in the tweet. It is not clear whether Sadr deliberately omitted Hashd al-Shaabi’s Fatih and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) among others.
Brett McGurk, the US special presidential envoy, met with former Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani and PM Nechirvan Barzani in a bid to influence the shape of the next government.
Meanwhile, Qassem Soleimani, commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp’s (IRGC) extraterritorial Quds Force, is in southern Iraq seeking to assemble a pro-Iran Shia majority government among the divided Shia blocs.

Kaperoni (Dinar Guru) – The CBI stated a year or so ago, once they start it could take 2 years to delete the zeros. What that means is that the dinar will appreciate gradually (float) as stated in the IMF Article IV Consultation. My view is that once the conditions are met, They accept Article VIII, and move to a float, it could take another 2 years to raise the value of the dinar to a value where the zeros are gone. Not saying it will take that long but it is a directly related to investment. This is why the IMF stated the Balassa-Samuelson effect in the 2012 Article IV. The truth is, if investors are lined up to participate in Iraq, it should happen fairly quickly. But it is up to Iraq to create the right environment for the value to rise. At that point all we can do is hope that investors come to Iraq, begin the substantial rebuilding and investment phase creating inflationary pressure on the CBI to raise the value.

Saairon Alliance will appoint Iraq’s new PM: Moussawi
MP of Al-Ahrar Bloc, Monadel al-Moussawi said on Monday that Saairun Alliance will appoint the new Iraqi Prime Minister after it won the most seats in the upcoming parliament.
“Saairun Alliance has won the most number of seats in the Iraqi Parliament, so it will appoint the new Prime Minister”, Moussawi said.
He added that Saairun will not allow for any regional or international interference regarding the formation of the new government.
Saairun Alliance won 54 parliament seats, followed by the Fatah coalition with 47 seats and Victory Alliance with 43 seats.
On May 12, Iraqi people made their way to the poll stations to cast their ballots in the country’s first parliamentary elections since the defeat of ISIS terrorist group in December 2017.
Iraqi cities witnessed a low voter turnout.
According to observers who spoke to The Baghdad Post, this election is considered to be the worst in the Iraqi history in terms of the low voter turnout. They cited rising militancy and rampant violence under Haider Abadi government.

BGG ~ Lot’s of people are misreading this… Sadr’s pick won’t be Moussawi. Sadr will either support Abadi or nominate Ali al-Douai. Either will be just fine…far better than the Iranian option.
All of this is predicated on there not being something hinky in the works.
Quite honestly – Ali Al-Douai (Sadr’s choice) was the guy I was rooting for when Abadi got the job. I thought he gave us a better chance than anyone from the Dawa Party. JMHO.
Quick bio on Al-Douai (off the top of my head)…
I think I recall him being an Engineer and Teacher by trade (not a politician). He often wears a factory jumpsuit to work when not meeting dignitaries. It allows him to go directly to services projects and get involved… a real leader of the people.
He’s somewhat “internet famous” for his work ethic and disdain for the normal “trappings” of political life.
He’s been the sitting Governor of the Maysan Province (very successful at it – BTW) for sometime now.
It sounds like he might be in line for a promotion??

Iraq is about to escape the claws of Iran after the speech of Sistani and this will happen after the elections
Baghdad today – Bahrain’s Al Akhbar Al-Khaleej daily published an article highlighting the sermon of the religious authority in Ararak yesterday, noting that it was close to escaping the claws of Iran.
The newspaper said in the article written by Hamad Mubarak, that “the Arab Shiite reference in the city of Najaf, Iraq has revealed its position on the upcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections.”
“The representative of the religious authority, Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, spoke to warn the Iraqi people of the re-election of corrupt, whether they were tried or not tried by voters.”
“It has become clear that the Shiite Arab authority in Iraq does not stand with the reelection of the list of former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, who heads the coalition of state law,” he said, describing his term as “corruption and loss of funds and capabilities of Iraqis.”

Sadr receives a phone call from Abadi
Baghdad today – Sadr’s leader Moqtada al-Sadr received a phone call from Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Tuesday.
Sadr’s office said in a statement received by “Baghdad Today” that “the leader of the Sadrist movement received a telephone call from Prime Minister Haider al-Abbadi today, congratulating Sadr to conduct the electoral process in a secure democratic atmosphere and the victory of the National Alliance and take the first place in the electoral lists competing in parliamentary elections Of 2018 “.
Sadr said, according to the statement, that “this victory is an achievement for the Iraqi people and its national entitlement first and foremost.”
